Persona 5: The Royal Trailer Introduces New Playable Character Kasumi Yoshizawa

A new trailer has been released for Persona 5: The Royal, showcasing the game’s new playable character.

The new trailer (seen below) properly introduces us to Kasumi Yoshizawa, the newest member of the Phantom Thieves. In it, we see her spending time with the protagonist at various locations, such as the batting cages and at a Hawaiian-themed gift shop. We also see the awakening of her Persona, Cendrillon, in what looks like a new dungeon. Finally, we Kasumi’s All-Out Attack screen, which features her dancing with a ribbon wand.

Persona 5: The Royal is an expanded version of the hit JRPG. The game adds a slew of new features. This includes a new district in Tokyo to visit, as well as an aquarium, where the protagonist can take confidants to spend time with them. There will be additions to the game’s battle system, as well as some unknown modes. The Royal will also add on a third playable semester, which includes new events for the protagonist to experience. A new confidant has also been revealed: Takuto Maruki. Maruki is a counselor that Shujin Academy hires after a certain event and is the “Consultant” arcana.

The Royal is not the only Persona 5 title in development at the moment. In April, developer Atlus announced Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. The Phantom Strikers is a Warriors series title being partly developed by Koei Tecmo and  Omega Force. Like other Warriors titles, The Phantom Strikers sees players take on huge hordes of enemies, with both their weapons and personas. The game is being developed for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch but does not currently have a release date.

Persona 5: The Royal will release in Japan for the PlayStation 4 on October 31. The game will come overseas in 2020.
