The original Gameboy had a certain number of hardware limitations, and this case much to the dismay of many Pokemon fans. This meant that once we hit the Gameboy Advance era we were unable to trade the Pokemon we had spent year training to the newer games, so all the hard work was gone. With this Virtual Console release of Red, Blue and Yellow this is not going to be the case, during the Pokemon Direct it was revealed that players will be able to use Pokemon Bank to place their Pokemon from Red, Blue and Yellow up to Pokemon Sun and Moon.
This means all your Pokemon will still have meaning going forward and can be enjoyed in more recent installments, we may no longer have our original level 100 Raichu and Jolteon but they can be reclaimed and born anew in future games.
