Most gamers take instructions the game gives them with little to no questions. In most games, that’s not only expected but the only way to progress. However, Resident Evil 4 Remake has plenty of instances where it rewards creative and intuitive players who try to break the system. The opening Village sequence, for example, can easily be skipped, but that’s not the only time you can bypass what seems like a mandatory section.
One part in Chapter 8, while you’re in the Castle, has another one of these intended, but highly secretive skips. Rather than tell you how to normally go about hitting the Sun and Moon switches to open the gate blocking your way, we thought it would be easier to tell you how to skip it entirely! Here’s how it works.
How to Skip the Sun and Moon Switches in Resident Evil 4 Remake
During Chapter 8, Leon will be blocked off by a pesky gate. The “intended” way to open it is to use the Sun and Moon Switches to open the gate. However, if you look through the grate you can see that this gate was activated and held by a suspended weight. You don’t have to be an engineer to figure out that simply releasing that weight would cause the gate to raise.
Knowing that, hug the wall on the left side of the gate and aim to the right through the slots. You should barely be able to see the weight. It’s a tough shot, but if you manage to hit it the weight will fall and the gate will open just like that! Or, if you’re not the best shot, whip out an explosive to cover your bases.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is full of fun tricks and interactions like this. Have you found any yourself? Not all puzzles can be skipped, so if you’re stuck in the Village Chief’s Manor or on the Large Cave Shrine, we’ve got you covered there too!
