Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Unlock Luis In Mercenaries Mode

Resident Evil 4 Remake is already a somewhat arcadey experience, but the extra Mercenaries Mode goes all the way with it. This mode lets you pick a stage from the game and attempt to set high scores by fighting off endless enemies until your time runs out. Being a non-cannon experience, what better excuse for Capcom to let us play as some alternate characters?

When you first load up the Mercenaries Mode, you will be limited to just playing as Leon. No offense to our favorite bingo lover, but he’s had the entire campaign to shine, and it’s time to share the spotlight. There are three silhouettes of unlockable characters, but one has the unmistakable flowing locks of Luis.

Why not try out playing as the suave Luis?

Unlocking things was a major part of base Resident Evil 4 Remake, such as new modes, bonus weapons, and costumes. For Mercenaries Mode, you get a new set of things to unlock, including characters. The first one you can shoot for is our old friend Luis.

If you want to unlock Luis, you have to first prove your skills in this mode. Load up any of the stages – whichever you feel you are best at – and aim to get an A ranking or higher. Every stage has the same scoring system, with A ranks requiring 100,000 points or more. Hit that amount and Luis will become available!

Luis, and every new character, has a unique loadout compared to Leon. He comes with the Red9, SR M1903, Biometric Sensor, a Boot Knife, Flash Grenade, two first aid sprays, and some ammo for each gun. During Mayhem Mode, he can even lay down TNT traps!
