Sea of Stars Is Getting A New Co-Op Mode To Celebrate Hitting 5 Million Players

It’s always nice to hear that an indie game has found success, especially when it is a game such as Sea of Stars. Sabotage Studios, the developers behind the indie title, has confirmed on their website that their incredibly popular game has surpassed five million players. This is a truly monumental milestone for the small Canadian developer, as not many indie studios can reach this accomplishment!

Sea of Stars was one of the many indie darlings of 2023, releasing last year in August. The game had plenty of stiff competition, going against the likes of Dredge and Cocoon. Despite this, Sabotage Studio’s RPG was able to win Best Independent Game at The Game Awards 2023 and is now celebrating its latest milestone.

For those who enjoy a little retro gaming, Sabotage Studios also confirmed that they’re actively working on a 3-player couch co-op in celebration of this massive achievement. This nostalgia-inducing game mode has been aptly named “Single Player+” by the developers and will feature a new “Co-op timed hits’ mechanic”. This new mechanic seems to imply that players will now have to form strategies together to maximize their damage output in a team effort.

With the announcement of the new “Single Player+” mode, Sea of Stars hopefully will see an even bigger or continuous increase in players but only time will tell. As of writing, the game is sitting at a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, meaning it’s definitely worth checking out and heck, why not invite your friends along for the ride of a lifetime.
