Ever since completing Monster Hunter Wilds, players have been eagerly grinding out the base game to prepare for what lies ahead in G Rank and the future updates of the game. According to my game data, I am doing the same thing with over 50 Gore Magala and Arkveld hunts completed. The deeper players sink their teeth into what Monster Hunter Wilds has to offer, the more they find themselves hoping for a challenge. This is precisely why I have gone ahead and researched the top five monsters players are hoping to encounter in the currently unnamed but highly likely expansion of Monster Hunter Wilds.
While this list will undoubtedly leave some very notable and potential candidates behind, it will help to accurately describe what we can expect within the next year or so in content. While the first title update confirmed to release on April 4, players will undoubtedly experience countless hours of play in the monsters that follow the free update. For this reason, Mizutsune will be left out of the running in this list, as they have already been announced!
5. Ketcha Wacha – The poisonous sugar glider with an anteater twist
One of my personal favorites in the Monster Hunter franchise is the Ketcha Wacha. This monster dangles from the ceiling, throwing poisonous bile and leaping at high speeds. While adding the Ketcha Wacha to Monster Hunter Wilds would be an amazing thing to see, it is not without its flaws. For one, the Ketcha Wacha needs to be able to dangle from a canopy, so it would only truly be possible in the forest biome. Because of this, the addition of the Ketcha Wacha could bring about another biome in Monster Hunter Wilds. A Ketcha Wacha would thrive in a heavily canopied environment, or within a cave with a low ceiling. If the circumstances are right players could have an opportunity to see this fan favorite in the title update, making it more than deserving for a place in this list.
4. Zinogre – A cross between Gore Magala and Rey Dau
For many, the Zinogre is a close cousin of the Gore Magala, an infamous fan favorite within Monster Hunter Wilds. This fight would likely possess many similarities between Rey Dau in that the Zinogre is able to pulse electricity at hunters. At the same time, this fight would likely be very difficult to conquer, as this monster has a plethora of attacks that are more than capable of snuffing hunters out. For many including myself, I am looking forward to taking on the Zinogre and Rey Dau in the same hunt, as this will prove to be an extremely difficult and adrenaline packed fight. As it stands now, the Zinogre could likely exist in the Windward Planes or the Ruins of Wyveria.
3. Najarala – Supersonic serpent with a shedding shell
The Najarala is a serpentine-like monster who is capable of shooting off scales from its body that both damage on impact and create an AOE of damage. Taking on this monster is no small feat, as this is one of the largest monsters within the entirety of the Monster Hunter franchise. This monster would fight very similarly to Jin Dashaad in that blunt weapons are the best course of action during the hunt. Its armor would also reflect dulling blades, causing hunters to be punished for showing up unprepared. This monster can also easily paralyze hunters, effectively adding in another paralytic weapon in the rather thinned out elemental tree. The Najarala could likely exist within the Oilwell Basin or in the Ruins of Wyveria.
2. Tigrex – One of the most intense fights in the Monster Hunter franchise
The Tigrex is a monster that doesn’t need an introduction, but I will provide one anyways. Imagine taking on a Rathalos with triple the speed, double the attack, and screams constantly. Whatever you think of, this monster exists above that. Whenever hunters are able to start focusing in on this beast, it unleashes a volley of screams, stopping the hunter in its tracks and can effectively one-shot players during this time. There are also several variants of this monster that exist throughout the franchise, and it seems that hunters want all of them to debut in Monster Hunter Wilds. The Tigrex is also able to adapt to its environment, taking on water elements in water-based biomes, fire elements in fire-based biomes, and the list continues on. If the Tigrex were to debut in Monster Hunter Wilds, it would have the capability to reside in any of the biomes because of its elemental capabilities.
1. Fatalis – A fan favorite with high damage and insane AOE
Fatalis is not by any means a forgiving hunt. This monster possesses several moves that are able to wipe out fully nourished and buffed hunters in one swipe. Fatalis also creates AOEs that take up entire areas on the map, making evasion extremely difficult. Because of this, fighting this beast with a Seikret would be an intense experience of evading and landing blows with repetition. Known in canon as the black dragon, this was the final boss in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Fans have quickly jumped at the possibility of adding Fatalis to the game, as it would bring a level of difficulty that simply does not exist with any other monster in the sandbox. This monster would definitely find a home within the Ruins of Wyveria, or in the Windward Planes, as both have a vast size for players to evade its intense AOEs.
While this list is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of potential new monsters, it consists of many fan favorites that are compatible with the biomes within the game. Many current hunters state that the game is too easy in its current state, and the addition of these monsters and their intensity would certainly help to change their mind. At the same time, hunters who are new to the franchise will find a decent learning curve in taking down these beasts, as they are not by any means a walk in the park. All said and done, the title update of Monster Hunter WIlds will indefinitely bring dozens of new monsters to the game, and players should be pleasantly surprised by what they find.
