Like in other Final Fantasy games, the iconic Chocobo birds also make appearances in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. You can encounter and obtain various types of this beautiful avian in each major region. Besides riding this creature, you can also change their gear, which you can purchase with Golden Plumes. If you want to know more about this currency, you can read our guide to find out how to get and use Golden Plume in FF7 Rebirth.
FF7 Rebirth Golden Plume Locations Guide
There are only two methods that you can use to obtain more Golden Plumes in FF7 Rebirth. First, you can get two feathers by wrangling a regional Chocobo. The game has six major regions, but you will only need to catch a new Chocobo in four regions:
- Grasslands
- Junon
- Cosmo Canyon
- Nibel
You will automatically unlock a Chocobo in Gongaga as you progress through the main story, and you only have to purchase a permit to rent a Chocobo in Corel. That means you will only get eight Golden Plumes by wrangling all four Chocobos.
Obviously, this is not enough to unlock all the Chocobo cosmetics. If you wish to get more, you must repair various Chocobo Stations you discover on your adventure. A Chocobo chick will usually approach you when you are near one of these stops, and they will happily lead you to their home. Then, you just have to pick up the fallen signpost to activate the station and get one Golden Plume as a reward.
These Chocobo Stations also function as fast-travel points that you can use when you’ve unlocked the Chocobo in that specific region. If you have Cushions, you can use one to allow Cloud to sit on the broken chair and recover your team’s HP and MP.
How To Use Golden Plume In FF7 Rebirth
You can use Golden Plumes to purchase various gear for your Chocobo. Although you may think these items are merely cosmetics, they can also give you stat boosts or buffs in the Chocobo racing mini-game.
You must partake and win first place in one of these races during your first visit to Gold Saucer. The mini-game is quite challenging, but you can get some training in a simulation before you join the actual race.
Besides racing in Gold Saucer, you must also beat the Chocobo Sage in a Chocobo race during one of the Nibel side quests. The old man is a much harder opponent, and you want to wear the best gear to win the challenge.
That’s the end of our guide on how to get Golden Plume. For more FF7 Rebirth content, you can check out our post on how to enter Crow’s Nest in Junon.
