Ghostwire: Tokyo: Best Prayer Beads And How To Get Them

When the world is beset by all sorts of paranormal invaders ripped right out of Japanese folklore and mythology in Ghostwire: Tokyo, it only stands to reason that other objects thought to hold supernatural powers would become real as well. In Akito’s case, donning a few Prayer Beads can turn him from the haunted to the hunter.

Prayer Beads are a kind of collectible in Ghostwire: Tokyo. There are 33 in total; however, they serve unique purposes. You can equip just one to start, but eventually can increase that number to three through upgrading the skill tree. While we can’t tell you why Akito is incapable of wearing more than one set of beads by default, we can tell you the best ones you should be wearing in this guide!

Best Prayer Beads And How To Get Them In Ghostwire: Tokyo

Ghostwire: Tokyo fog

Most Prayer Beads are collected after cleansing shrines to clear the fog choking the map of Ghostwire: Tokyo. They aren’t automatically given to you, so make sure you pick them up before leaving the shrine, or you’ll have to backtrack to collect them. Others are obtained through specific missions or requests. Each set starts at a base level but can be improved up to level three by adding more beads of the same kind. We’ll ignore the beads you get after beating the game since you probably won’t need the help at that point.

  1. Flame Beads: Akito’s fire spell is by far his most powerful offensive option, and these beads really overpower it. Fire spells increase in power by 20, 40, and 60% with each level! You can collect these beads by cleansing the Kirigaoka, Mikubo, and Akitsu shrines.
  2. Self-Defense Beads: If you’re taking a bit too much damage and you’re health isn’t quite high enough yet, these beads will keep you alive and kicking (or casting, as it were). They will reduce the damage you take by 10, 20, and 30%. That kind of power isn’t as easy to come by; being tied to Nekomata requests. Level one is obtained by completing three requests in Kirigaoka, two for completing five requests at Shimokusa Shrine, and level three by doing all the requests near Kamio Shrine.
  3. Archery Beads: There are points where you’re forced to use your bow, and when they happen, you’ll be glad for the 20, 40, or 60% attack power buff. Cleanse the Morite, Matsumi, and Namihara shrines to bolster your bow’s power!
