The free-to-play Overwatch 2 has crossed 35 million players in just a month after its release. The news can be found in Activision Blizzard’s Q3 2022 sales report, listed as a business highlight on page two. The report notes that “many” Overwatch 2 players are new to the series. Players are also more engaged than ever, with more than double the average daily player numbers of the original Overwatch.

Overwatch 2 is taking the already popular Overwatch series to new levels of success. There was initially a rocky launch for the game, with the phone verification scandal prevented fans from playing the game and DDoS attacks that took down Blizzard’s servers. Despite these problems, it took just ten days for the game to get 25 million players, and its peak daily player count tripled the record set by its predecessor..

Ramattra Overwatch 2 surrounded by omnics
The latest hero, Ramattra, joins Overwatch 2 in Season 2’s battle pass.

Overwatch 2 will continue to be supported into the future, with a new tank hero Ramattra ready to launch with Season 2 in December. Ramattra will be locked behind the Battle Pass, part of Overwatch 2‘s controversial monetization system. Despite our impressions though, Overwatch 2 is a huge success for Blizzard and that is great news for fans of the game who want more in future.
