Randy Pitchford Teases “Borderlands 4”

It is certainly a good day to be a Borderlands fan, as not only did we get a first look at the upcoming Borderlands movie but we may or may not be getting another entry in the iconic game series. Randy Pitchford, the founder of Gearbox, seems to be hinting at us getting Borderlands 4 and that fans of the games are in for a treat.

We first learned about Pitchford dropping hints during a recent interview with IGN. In this interview, Randy Pitchford was asked numerous questions that mainly focused on the recently revealed Borderlands movie, starring none other than Cate Blanchett. In the interview, Pitchford was asked what his personal favorite entry in the series was, to which he responded, “Look, we haven’t even announced anything of it.” He then went on to say, “Clearly, we’re working on something. And I know what we’re working on, and holy shit… It’s the greatest thing we’ve ever done. And I can’t wait, but it’s not time yet. It’s not time yet. There will be a time.” Which seems to be incredibly promising to say the least.

As of this writing, we have no other pieces of information to go on besides what was revealed during the interview, but Gearbox may have been hinting at a new Borderlands game for longer than we realize. A series of tweets were shared by the official Borderlands Twitter starting on February 6, 2024, which recaps the story of the first game. The account would then go onto do this for Borderlands 2. This has caused many to speculate we will continue to get these ‘recaps’ until Borderlands 3, the last entry in the Borderlands series.

Currently, while we don’t have official confirmation, all signs do seem to be pointing to Borderlands 4, with the founder of Gearbox dropping hints and a curious string of tweets, not to mention it was one of the games leaked in a now-deleted LinkedIn post. Hopefully, with all the hype surrounding the franchise, we will learn more about what’s to come soon.
