Black Ops Cold War Will Feature FOV Slider On All Platforms

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be the first game in the franchise to feature a field of view slider across all platforms. This feature will be available for players to experiment with during this weekend’s beta, which begins today.

While the FOV slider has been exclusive to PC in the past, Treyarch is now opening it up to everyone. As demonstrated in a post via Twitter below, the field of view ratio can be adjusted from a display tab. The function “defines the height and width of in-game view”.

Treyarch described the function as a new way to optimize the game for a “globally connected, cross-play experience”, adding that “the team is dedicated to providing the best performance possible for this feature across all platforms at launch.”

Treyarch further outlined a new ping system, available across all MP Modes, allowing players to “ping objectives, loot, locations, and enemies for your teammates during a match.” Plus, there are HUD Visual Toggles to help players customize their UI experience during the Beta. This includes the ability to “toggle visuals for the compass, enemy and ally health bars, hit markers, crosshairs, player names, and button hints.” Check out Treyarch’s official blog post for more details on the Beta.

Last week, Tony Flame, a lead designer on Black Ops Cold War, described the beta as “quite an upgrade” from the alpha. While a PS4-exclusive, opening weekend runs from today until October 12, a cross-play weekend follows from October 15 to 19.

Activision also released details for the upcoming zombies’ mode for Black Ops Cold War. Set within an abandoned bunker in the 1980s, the four-person co-op mode will incorporate “new ways to progress, classic fan-favorite Perks, and an arsenal of Cold War weaponry that will help survivors dominate the legions of undead.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be released on November 13, 2020, across the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
