To start the Proof of Innocence side quest, you must visit the Timberrain Court in Leaflands and interact with the court guard Maylan. To initiate the Proof of Innocence quest, you’ll need to make sure you meet with Maylan during the day. During the night, Maylan will instead provide players with the Proof of Guilt quest; however, if you talk to him during the day, he will give out the Proof of Innocence quest. Be sure to remember this, as the two side quests offer different rewards!

Sickly Woman

The Proof of Innocence side story in Octopath Traveler 2 can be quickly completed by taking a few simple steps. Leaving the Timberrain Court, head to the left, and you will find an NPC named Sickly Woman on the bridge. She is able to serve as a witness to Bianco’s innocence. You can Guide her using Temenos, Allure her using Agnea, Hire her (via Leaves) with Partitio, or Befriend her (via Jerky items) with Ochette.

Escort the witness to court during the day. Upon arrival, approach Maylan at the entrance and present the Sickly Woman as a witness. She will then be provided to the judge and serve as a witness for the accused man’s innocence. You will then be rewarded with 11,000 Leaves, a Nourishing Nut, an Olive of Life, and access to the side story “Proof of Justice.”
